LUSAKA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Zambia on Saturday beat South Africa 2-0 as they qualified for the African Nations Championship Finals slated for Kenya next year.

The Chipolopolo (The Bullets) qualified on a 4-2 aggregate after a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the final qualifying matches played in South Africa last week.

Striker Justin Shonga was the hero of the Zambian squad as he scored the two goals in the 79th and 82nd minutes to give coach Wedson Nyirenda something to smile about as his job was stake had the team failed to qualify.

The head of the country's soccer governing body had warned that 'heads would roll' if the team failed to qualify for the finals of the tournament meant for players in the domestic league.
