ANKARA, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Security forces killed 58 militants of outlawed Kurdistan Works' Party (PKK) during last week's operation, local media report on Friday.

The 58 PKK militants were killed during counterterrorism operations conducted in the country's southeastern provinces of Sirnak and Hakkari, state-run Anadolu news agency reported, citing a military statement.

Seven Turkish soldiers were killed and 12 others injured in the fight.

The security forces found a large amount of illegal firearms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds, rocket-propelled grenades and a sniper rifle.

Meanwhile, 2,500 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, a material using for making explosives, were also found.

Eight PKK shelters and depots were destroyed, the report added.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the EU, resumed its armed campaign against the Turkish government in July 2015.

Since then, some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians were killed in PKK attacks, while more than 7,000 PKK members were killed during government operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
