TOKYO, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the lower 109 yen range in early deals in Tokyo on Friday morning, dropping slightly from its levels seen in New York overnight.
As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.34-35 yen compared with 109.53-63 yen in New York and 109.92-93 yen at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Tokyo.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1716-1716 dollars and 128.11-12 yen against 1.1718-1728 dollars and 128.40-50 yen in New York and 1.1755-1757 dollars and 129.21-25 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
