Tanzania's Azam FC hold Uganda's KCCA FC in international friendly

KAMPALA, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Premier League side, Azam FC held Uganda's League champions KCCA FC to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly played on Thursday in the capital Kampala.

Substitute Lawrence Bukenya who replaced Saddam Ibrahim Juma scored KCCA's goal in the 72nd minute before Masoud Abdallah also found the net for the visiting side at the stroke of full time.

The home side was missing first choice players Benjamin Ochan, Paul Musamali, Isaac Muleme, Muzamir Mutyaba, Paul Mucureezi and Derrick Nsibambi who are all part of the national team preparing to face Rwanda on Saturday in a 2018 Africa Nations Championship qualifier.

KCCA FC coach Mike Hillary Mutebi also gave former Iceland based professional Tony Mawejje a chance to feature together with Abdallah Mohammed, Saddam Juma, Julius Poloto, Ronald Kikonyogo and Mustafa Kizza, while Tito Okello played as the lone striker.

Azam's coach Aristica Cioaba was a happy man after the final whistle.

"I am happy that we play well as a team, but must improve on the finishing," he added.

Azam FC is in Uganda to play build up games ahead of the start of a new season back home.
