Japanese, Filipino athletes top international marathon in Vietnam

HANOI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- A Japanese man and a Filipino woman finished first at the 42.195km event of an international marathon which concluded on Sunday in Vietnam's central Da Nang city.

Izawa Satoshi from Japan and Lany Cardona from the Philippines topped the race, while French man Julien Devanne and Filipino woman Jho An Villarma ranked first at the 21km event.

The marathon attracted the participation of over 5,000 athletes from 44 countries and regions in the world.

The marathon, organized by Da Nang, the World Marathon Company and Pulse Active, included a charity event which raised 21,700 U.S. dollars.
