NEW DELHI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The Indian Coast Guard officials said on Sunday that they have intercepted a Panamanian ship carrying around 1,500 kg of heroin off the Gujirat coast.
Indian Coast Guard officials said they have apprehended the Panama-registered ship, MV Hennery, based on intelligence.
The seized narcotics is valued around 546 million U.S. dollars in the international market, authorities said.
A joint investigation has been launched by the Indian Coast Guard, police, customs department, the navy and other investigative agencies to learn the origin and final destination of the shipment.
