TOKYO, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning as technology-related issues here retreated following the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index closing lower overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 85.10 points, or 0.42 percent, from Thursday to 19,994.54.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.05 points, or 0.19 percent, to 1,623.79.
Pulp and paper, securities and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
