WARSAW, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Visiting U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday hailed the Three Seas summit as a breakthrough meeting, which is to open a new chapter for an open market of low-cost energy, bringing more security and prosperity to citizens.

While giving a speech at the second Three Seas Initiative Summit in Warsaw's Royal Castle, Trump underlined American support for Three Seas states, declaring more access to energy markets and fewer barriers.

Trump also expressed opinion that this initiative might rebuild the entire region and guarantee the countries remain sovereign, secure and free from coercion from outside.

Trump added that the United States supported the Three Seas initiative and congratulated Poland on receiving the first transport of liquefied natural gas (LNG) form the United States.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said the Three Seas Initiative would hopefully give Europe modernization, integration and unification.

Duda said he hoped the United States would support the Three Seas Initiative, thus enhancing the region, which was, in fact "one-third of the entire EU".

"The Tree Seas potential is huge; we want to build a gas corridor running from Poland's northwestern town of Swinoujscie to a gas terminal on the Krk island," Duda said.

This was meant to ensure energy security, so that no one could "blackmail" any of the countries of this part of Europe, he added.

The Three Seas Initiative is a joint idea of the presidents of Poland and Croatia, which seeks to strengthen ties among countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas. It brings together 12 countries in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Balkans, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania and Austria.

Donald Trump arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday evening. Following the summit, Trump is supposed to address to the Polish people at Krasinskich Square. Afterwards, he will leave for Germany.

Meanwhile, there were demonstrations in Warsaw streets against Trump's decision to pull the United States out of the Paris Agreement.
