JAKARTA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- All five people on board of a small plane that went down in Indonesia's eastern Papua province on Wednesday were feared dead, a spokesman of the national search and rescue office said on Thursday.

Spokesman Marsudi made the statement after rescuers, observing the Pilatus Porter PC-6 aircraft from air, saw the plane was broken into pieces.

"The plane has been seriously damaged, so it is a high possibility that all the people inside the plane were killed," he told Xinhua by phone.

Dozens of rescuers from the search and rescue office and volunteers were heading to the crash site in Wamena district, said Marsudi.

The five people on board included a pilot, a co-pilot and three passengers, he added.

The plane, operated by Associated Mission Aviation (AMA), a private firm operating flights in and around Papua province, was flying from Wamena to Derakma.
