BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks fell Wednesday as positive sentiment caused by the MSCI's inclusion of A-shares in a key index petered out.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.56 percent lower at 3,173.2 points following three trading days of increases.

Previous market buoyance came after leading equity index compiler MSCI decided last week to include 222 A-shares in its Emerging Markets Index. The move is expected to attract more overseas funds into the mainland stock market.

On Wednesday, the smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.8 percent lower at 10,451.57 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.64 percent to close at 1,808.2 points.

The aviation sector dropped the most, with the share price of AVIC Aircraft shedding 2.03 percent to reach 18.37 yuan (2.7 U.S. dollars).

Banks bucked the downward trend. Bank of Ningbo rose 3.75 percent to close at 19.65 yuan, while Industrial Bank climbed 2.13 percent to 16.82 yuan.
