NAIROBI, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The European Union has unveiled an election observer team that will be deployed to different Kenyan counties ahead of the country's Aug. 8 polls.

Senior officials from the bloc said the observers will tour Kenyan hinterland and urban centers to assess campaigns and preparations for the elections of a new president, lawmakers and regional representatives.

They will be following the campaigning and meeting election officials and stakeholders up to and beyond Election Day, and sending their findings back to our team of experts based in Nairobi," said Deputy Chief Observer of the mission Hannah Roberts.

Kenya's electoral agency invited the EU and other multilateral agencies to observe the forthcoming August polls that are expected to reshape the country's political and economic landscape.

Roberts said the international community is committed to ensure Kenya conducts free, transparent and credible polls.

Kenya's foreign allies are closely watching the electoral process and are preparing to send a strong delegation of observers ahead of the August national polls.

The African Union Commission has already signaled its intention to send a high powered delegation to observe polling in the East Africa's largest economy.
