KIEV, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The week-long 2017 European Diving Championship kicked off in Kiev on Monday, Ukrainian Sports Minister Igor Zhdanov said on Facebook.
According to the European Swimming League, the men and women competition is held at Liko Sports Centre with the participation of 124 athletes from 23 European countries.
During the championship, divers from Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, France, Britain, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine, will compete for prizes in 13 categories.
The championship, which Ukraine hosts for the first time since 1991, runs until June 18.
