MEXICO CITY, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Countries across Latin America were united Tuesday in their condemnation of the terrorist attack in the city of Manchester in Britain, which left at least 22 people dead.

A man detonated an improvised explosive device at a concert of the young American singer Ariana Grande on Monday. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the brutal attack.

Mexico lamented the attack, sending "its most heartfelt condolences to the people and the government of the United Kingdom, as well as its solidarity to the families of the victims of these unacceptable acts of violence."

Brazil also issued a statement, expressing its condolences to the families of the victims, its wishes for the full recovery of the injured and its solidarity with the people and the government of Britain. Brazil reiterated its condemnation of terrorism in all forms, said the statement.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry said these "aberrant acts" must not undermine societies' will to continue living their lives in peace and without conditions imposed by violent groups who seek to sow terror.

"Argentina firmly condemns terrorism and calls on the international community to strengthen cooperation to fight this scourge, the product of intolerance and fanaticism," it said in a message.

Bolivian President Evo Morales sent condolences and expressed solidarity in a tweet.

Ecuador also joined the chorus of condemnation over the attack, saying there is a "special pain caused by knowing that an important number of the victims are children and young people who had just begun to live."

"Ecuador defends the highest values of respect for human rights, fundamental liberties and rejects all forms of violence," said the Foreign Ministry.
