ALGIERS, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday strongly condemned the bombing attack that targeted the British city of Manchester on Monday overnight, killing more than 22 people.

"Algeria strongly condemns this ignoble terrorist crime and expresses its solidarity to your friendly country mourned by this tragedy," the Algerian president said in a condolence message to the British Prime Minister Theresa May, as reported by the official APS news agency.

"On behalf of the Algerian people, the government and my own name, I offer you our sincere condolences to the victims, and I wish quick recovery for the injured," he concluded.

A suicide bomber detonated bombs on Monday night while a crowd of teenagers poured out of a music concert in Manchester, killing 22 people, local media reported.

The source noted that local police identified 22-year-old Salman Abedi as the suspected suicide bomber.
