ANKARA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Turkey and German are working to resolve the dispute over Ankara's rejection to a group of German lawmakers' visit to Incirlik air base, German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Erdmann said on Tuesday.

"We are continuing our work to resolve this saddening problem. I have visited Incirlik twice in the past, but not this time," Erdmann told reporters during a visit to Adana, a southern province where the Incirlik base is located.

Last Monday, Turkey rejected a group of German lawmakers visiting Incirlik base, where some 250 German troops are stationed as part of the fight against Islamic State (IS) group in neighboring Syria.

Turkish diplomatic sources said that the German lawmakers' visit to Incirlik was "considered inappropriate for the time being," without further elaborating.

Germany is considering choose a Jordanian airbase as a possible alternative to replace Turkey's Incirlik, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said on Saturday in Jordan.
