Turkey condemns Manchester terror attack

ANKARA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned a suicide attack at a Manchester concert, which killed at least 22 people and wounded 59 others.

In a statement, the ministry said they offer deepest expressions to the United Kingdom and its people on behalf of Turkey and Turkish people.

Turkey will continue to fight against terrorism with the United Kingdom, shoulder to shoulder, the statement said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu tweeted on Tuesday "I condemn the terrorist attack in Manchester. Sincere condolences to the British Government and people."

Turkish Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin also condemned the attack on twitter, and stressed that Turkey and the United Kingdom will continue their joint and resolute fight against terrorism in all of its forms.

The deadly attack happened on Monday night when a suicide bomber struck as thousands of fans streamed out of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in Manchester, UK.
