BERLIN, May 23(Xinhua) -- German army is investigating an officer who called for a putsch against Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, local media Bild reported on Tuesday.

The German armed force, Bundeswehr, has recently introduced new reforms and inspections in all its units since several officers were arrested on suspicion of plotting xenophobic terror acts.

Bundeswehr issued several orders including cleaning off Nazi-era memorabilia in garrisons and reevaluate psychological status, aiming to get rid of the brewing far-right sentiments in the army.

Bild reported that in earlier May an officer seemed having enough of the recent measures and broke out scolding the defense minister.

The officer said he's fed up with "200,000 soldiers have been placed under general suspicion" and the soldiers "need to address that or have a putsch."

The identity and the rank of the officer was not disclosed.

Investigations is now underway and it is still unclear whether his words would lead to a punishment.
