TOKYO, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks eked out gains Tuesday morning as Wall Street's overnight rally spurring buying here was offset by investors locking in profits.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 6.42 points, or 0.03 percent, from Monday to 19,876.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, inched 0.95 point, or 0.06 percent, higher to 1,580.95.

Oil and coal product, and food issues were among issues that gained the most by the morning break.
