BANGKOK, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Two bomb blasts at a downtown shopping mall in southernmost Thailand injured 58 people on Tuesday, police said.

All of the injured were being treated at a local hospital while two, among the 58, suffered severe injuries, according to deputy police spokesman Krisana Patanacharoen.

Two bombs were separately detonated at the shopping mall on Tuesday afternoon.

The first bomb, which exploded inside Big C mall, caused no injuries, while the second one exploded in the parking lot, causing many injuries as people were leaving the mall and police were probing the scene after the first explosion.

The spokesman said Thailand's police chief Chakthip Chaijinda has ordered a thorough investigation into the bomb blasts.
