MACAO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The revenue of Macao's gaming industry registered a significant rise of 16.3 percent to 20.16 billion patacas (about 2.52 billion U.S. dollars) in April, the special administrative region's gaming industry watchdog said on Tuesday.

Macao's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said in a report that April's data is the 9th monthly rebound in gaming revenue since August 2016.

The accumulated revenue in 2017 reached 83.64 billion patacas (about 10.45 billion dollars), also 13.8 percent higher than that in March 2016. The increase rate of monthly accumulated revenue has gradually improved from minus 21.4 percent in January 2016 to 13 percent in March 2017.

Macao's monthly gaming revenue registered a 1.1-percent year-on-year rise in August 2016, ending a 26-month slump of the industry. Since then the monthly revenue has recorded year-on-year growth.
