ISLAMABAD, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and another injured in a firing incident inside the premises of a local court in Pakistan's east Punjab province on Wednesday, local reports said.
Some unknown gunmen opened fire at the people who came to the court for the hearing of a murder case. The gunman fled the scene after the shooting, Dunya News reported.
Police said the deceased included a chairman of a village council and his relative who was facing the court in the murder case.
The injured man has been taken to hospital, where he is said to be in critical condition.
Police said the firing seems to be an incident of personal enmity, but they did not rule out the possibility of a terrorist attack.
The cops have cordoned off the area for investigations, and kicked off a search operation to apprehend the fleeing shooters.
