LONDON, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A group of children who survived this year's horrific terror bombing at the Manchester Arena were whisked away on a magical day trip Tuesday to Disneyland Paris.
The families were greeted at Manchester Airport by John Bishop, one of the Britain's funniest men, as they arrived at Manchester Airport for their British Airways flight. Cast members from the popular television soap, Hollyoaks were also at the airport to give the survivors a memorable send-off.
It was the fifth annual Magical Day Trip organised by the airline, and the first to fly from Manchester as part of its global charity which has so far raised 23 million U.S. dollars
It was the fifth time British Airways and Disneyland Paris have teamed up to organise a magical day out, but it's the first time the flight has operated from Manchester Airport.
The trip is part of British Airways' celebrations to mark the airline reaching a landmark 23 million U.S. dollars for its Flying Start global charity partnership.
The airline's Mary Barry said: "We wanted to give some of the families a Christmas day out, to have fun and meet some of our celebrity ambassadors."
Julian Carr, Manchester Airport's Aviation Director, said: "The arena attack touched so many people back in May and everyone at Manchester Airport hopes the families have an incredible day at Disneyland Paris."
In the attack at a concert by the American singer Ariana Grande, 22 people were killed and more than 500 were injured when suicide bomber, 22-years-old Salman Abedi, detonated a bomb.
