RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid-bound teenager Vinicius Junior has revealed a desire to delay his arrival at the Spanish capital until 2019 as he chases silverware with Rio de Janeiro side Flamengo.

Vinicius became the most expensive teenage footballer ever in May when Real Madrid agreed to sign him for 45 million euros.

The move was originally slated to take place next July, but Vinicius said on Saturday that he would like at least another year with Flamengo.

"We haven't decided anything," Vinicius told reporters in Rio de Janeiro. "I have been on vacation for the past three days. We are going to think about it in the new year, but I hope to stay [in Rio] until the end of 2018. I want to win the Copa Libertadores and then go to Real Madrid."

The 17-year-old has made 34 first-team appearances for Flamengo this year - mostly as a substitute - and scored four goals.

He caught the attention of Europe's top clubs by netting 17 times in 19 matches for Brazil's under-17 team in 2016.
