CHIBA, Japan, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- DPR Korea beat China 2-0 here on Friday at the women's game of the 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship.

Kim Yun-mi scored for DPR Korea in the 24th and 78th minute.

DPR Korea played offensively and dominated the first half. China made a few mistakes and lost the first goal. Although Chinese players fought back in the half, they conceded another goal due to another mistake.

"We conceded an easy goal in the first half, and in the second half, the same story, we made a mistake, and the opponent capitalized it," said China new coach Sigurour Ragnar Eyjolfsson after the game.

He added that DPR Korea is a strong team and that as he is still new at this job, he still "needs some time to organize the team, to get them to play better."

"We are not yet quite adjusted to the style of the new coach. We performed better in our training, but in real competitions, we failed to bring out our best performance," said China captain Ma Jun.

Kim Kwang-min, head coach of DPR Korea, said that he was glad that his team won the opening game of the championship and it would bring positive effects to the team's performance later.

The 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship is running in Tokyo and Chiba between Dec. 8 and Dec. 16.

Four countries - China, Japan, DPR Korea and South Korea - compete in the championship.
