VIENNA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) plays a pivotal role in European security and is now more indispensable than ever, its Chairperson-in-Office Sebastian Kurz said on Thursday.
Speaking at the opening of the OSCE's 24th Ministerial Council here, Austrian Foreign Minister Kurz told the high-level officials present that issues facing Europe could only be solved through consensus and overcoming a "crisis of confidence" that presently exists between states.
With 57 member states, "not everyone can always be satisfied," he remarked, and as such co-operation must occur based on rules reached in agreement.
To find such consensus "trust, dialogue and a willingness to compromise" must be present, he said.
Kurz said the OSCE summit was designed to give the best possible platform for such dialogue to take place, and to promote confidence between participating states.
