HANOI, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi will, in the first quarter of next year, start issuing international driving permits online, the municipal Transport Department said on Thursday.
The department is working with the General Department of Vietnam Road, the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade and the Hanoi Post to launch the online service effectively.
Holders of international driving permits issued by Vietnam can drive vehicles in over 70 countries which have joined the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic.
To drive in countries which have not joined the international convention, Vietnamese citizens still have to pass driving tests in the countries.
