NEW DELHI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior minister in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya has resigned, barely a couple of months ahead of the assembly elections.
State Power Minister Comingone Ymbon has stepped down from the post citing "personal reasons," officials said Tuesday. He became a minister only in August this year.
"I hereby tender my resignation as minister... on personal grounds," Ymbon said in a letter to Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Meghalaya, which is ruled by India's main opposition Congress party, is to go to polls early next year.
