BERLIN, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- "This game is pure psychology," the 72-year-old Bayern Munich coach and 2013 treble winner Jupp Heynckes said of their Champions League group match against the Paris St Germain on Tuesday evening in Munich.

After the 3-0 defeat in the first leg, Bayern needs a 4-0 victory to oust Paris from the top position in the group.

But the 1974 World Cup winner had different words as both teams have qualified for the elimination stage, saying "I told the team this is a prestige game. Therefore we have to stay down to earth. Don't have a 4-0 in mind, but to secure a 1-0. We want to beat them and show off what we are capable of. Everything else is far from realistic."

Heynckes is expecting a tight game, but not a defeat such as the first leg. After the disastrous defeat in Paris, Italian star coach Carlo Ancelotti was given the sack.

The team is prepared to continue the success after he joined the club for the fourth time last October, yet challenges have increased since he left in 2013, the 1980 European champion said.

"We see a growing number of top sides on the international stage that rely on outside financial support and operate with money they did not earn themselves," Heynckes said, singling out Paris St Germain and Manchester City as examples.

Although it's hard for other clubs to compete against such clubs, his side is competitive enough when all players are available in the best shape, said Heynckes, adding "then we are not easy to beat."

Bayern Munich head of board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is convinced that his team is highly motivated, as "a 0-3 defeat is something every footballer carries around in his mind for a while. It's nothing you just forget, you want to make up for it as soon as possible."

On Tuesday, Bayern is determined to "show another face and beat Paris in our arena," said the 62-year-old.

And Bayern defender Mats Hummels was even dreaming of a surprise. "If things work out perfectly we will see how high we can go," said the 2014 world champion full of confidence.

Meanwhile, Heynckes confirmed his retirement at the end of the season and rejected rumors of him staying for one more season. "I am 72 years old now, and I have seen many go at an age like that. You never know how many years are left. What I am doing at present is nothing you want to do all your life; it does not have a positive effect on your family life," he told the Munich-based "Sueddeutsche Zeitung".

Bayern will have to look for a new coach next summer, with the possible choice of German national coach Joachim Loew, Juergen Klopp (FC Liverpool), former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel, RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuettl and Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann.
