ISLAMABAD, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistan military said on Friday that a deadly attack on an agriculture center in Peshawar was raised with senior Afghan military officials, who were in Pakistan for talks on security issues.
Army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor told local TV channels that handlers in Afghanistan were in contact with the gunmen who launched the attack on the Agricultural Directorate in Peshawar and killed nine people.
Provincial Police Chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood confirmed six students were among the dead. Doctors said nine were killed and over 30 injured.
The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Taliban (TTP) spokesman Muhammad Khurasani, who had claimed responsibility for the attack, said in a statement that "responsible people were in contact with the attackers and that a video will also be released later."
The military spokesman said the TTP has "presence in Afghanistan" and has claimed responsibility for the attack. He said Afghanistan-based TTP leaders had issued directives to the militants during the attack.
A seven-member Afghan military delegation headed by Chief of General Staff General Mohammad Habib Hesary held talks with Pakistani counterparts on anti-terror cooperation and border management.
