BANGKOK, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 2.8 million pills of methamphetamine were seized and seven suspected drug dealers arrested in northern Thailand, Thai police said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Police said that they found pickup trucks loaded with suspected sacks crossing checkpoints they set up in Nan Province. The drivers appeared flurried when stopped by police.
According to police, the network of seven suspected drug couriers were busted. They confessed that they were jointly delivering pills worth 800,000 baht (24,242 U.S. dollars) from northern Thailand's Payao province to central Thailand.
The suspected also unveiled that they got the drugs from hill tribes in the country's north, an area bordering Myanmar where drug production and delivery are rampant.
The 2.8 million pills have been valued at 300 million baht (9.09 million dollars). The price will be tripled if the meth were transferred to Bangkok, according to police.
