BUCHAREST, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The number of bad-payers increased month by month in Romania, showed a special analysis released Monday by a famous local consultancy & credit information company.

According to KeysFin, more than 670,000 Romanians are currently in arrears with banks and non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs).

The number of investigated cases in November exceeded 100,000, with 20,000 more debtors to be monitored compared to the first half of the current year.

More and more Romanians are unable to repay their loans installments on schedule, and thus end up in forced execution procedures, amidst a strong appreciation of the euro and the rise in consumer spending, the KeysFin analysis said.

Latest data with the National Bank of Romania showed the total amount of outstanding loans in national currency lei of the population and companies stood at 5.77 billion lei (1.48 billion U.S. dollars) in August, up 0.51 percent from the previous month, while outstanding foreign currency loans increased by 7.4 percent, to 7.08 billion lei (1.82 billion dollars). Most of the debt, or 4.32 billion lei (1.11 billion dollars), were more than 90 days overdue.
