ADDIS ABABA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopian government on Monday called for stronger relations with Australia and New Zealand, with due emphasis given to investments in Ethiopia.

At an Ethiopia-Australia, New Zealand business forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Minister of Trade Bekele Bulado invited Australian and New Zealand investors to explore Ethiopia's investment landscape.

Bulado, who noted the strong and longstanding historical relations among the three countries, said that the partnership "needs to translate so as to foster the three countries' all-round cooperation and further enhance economic and business ties."

"Ethiopia presents strong internal market opportunities to Australia and New Zealand investors and businesses, in part emanating from the potential offered by huge population number," he said.

Bulado pointed to such sectors as infrastructure, transport, mining, renewable energy, agriculture, and textiles for Australian and New Zealand investment.

Australian Ambassador to Ethiopia Mark Sawe also reiterated the importance of trade and commerce in boosting relations between the two countries and emphasized the way trade could be an important agent of change in empowering peoples in the two countries.

The Ethiopia-Australia, New Zealand business forum was organized by the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the embassies of Australia and New Zealand in Addis Ababa.
