Kuwait, France to enhance bilateral cooperation

KUWAIT CITY, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait and France are prepared to further promote bilateral ties, Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Walid Al-Khobeizi said on Wednesday.

The first meeting of the Kuwaiti-French Strategic Dialogue was held here, during which both sides reviewed the bilateral ties and ways to promote cooperation in various fields.

They highlighted the need to set up a higher committee to further cement the political cooperation, said Khobeizi.

France expressed its full support for the mediation efforts of Kuwait to resolve the Gulf crisis, and that both sides agreed to coordinate their stances on various regional and international issues, he added.

As for the economic ties, the two countries agreed to increase the trade exchanges and joint investment and tap into the promising opportunities of investment, he said.

They also discussed educational and cultural exchanges and commended the level of military cooperation in terms of armament and training, he added.
