JAKARTA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) - Indonesia's Batam, the nation's neighboring territory to Singapore and Malaysia, was scheduled to hold an international gold tournament on weekend to attract more golfers from those countries.

The upcoming 2017 Orchid Country Club Golf Tournament slated for Saturday and Sunday in Batam's Palm Springs Golf & Country Club was part of government's ways to boost arrivals of foreign visitors through cross border areas.

Domestic Tourism Development Deputy at Tourism Ministry Esthy Reko Astuti said that Batam has competitive and world class golf courses, which are highly capable of attracting foreign tourists from Singapore and Malaysia.

"The golf course and events related to the tournament have been set to make the golfers comfortable, featured with dinner and interesting program in reward handover session," she said here on Tuesday.

She added that the seaside golf course in the upcoming tournament would give exceptional experiences for the golfers taking part in the event.
