Airstrike kills 5 militants, injures key local commander in northern Afghanistan

MAIMANA, Afghanistan, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Afghan forces launched an airstrike killing at least five insurgents and wounding five others including a key Taliban commander in Afghanistan's northern Faryab province on Monday, an official said Tuesday.

"Security forces launched air operation on Monday night in Asfalan village of Qaysar district, killing five Taliban militants and injuring five others, including Abdullah, a Taliban key commander for the district," an army spokesman, Nasratullah Jamshidi, told Xinhua.

The Taliban militants who are operational in some parts of the province, are yet to comment on the report.
