CAIRO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The recently elected new leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) reflects a new spirit and a future vision of the country's ruling party, said Egyptian political experts.

They made the remarks in recent interviews with Xinhua after Chinese President Xi Jinping was re-elected general secretary of the CPC Central Committee following the landmark 19th CPC National Congress in October.

The new leadership, with Xi as the core, "shows a new CPC spirit signaling an important new era in China's modern history," said Ahmed Sallam, a former media consultant at the Egyptian embassy in Beijing.

"The CPC made a lot of achievements over the past five years, the most remarkable of which is its persistence in fighting corruption, as President Xi vowed to crack down on both 'tigers' and 'flies' in the anti-corruption campaign," Sallam told Xinhua.

Under Xi's leadership, the CPC has been working hard on poverty eradication in the world's most populous nation, he said, adding that a major leap is expected by the 100th anniversary of the CPC, which was established in 1921.

He also spoke highly of the Belt and Road Initiative, which was proposed by Xi in 2013 and aimed at building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along and beyond the ancient Silk Road trade routes.

"With the Belt and Road Initiative and its basic policy of non-interference in other countries' domestic affairs, China reaffirms its support for developing states through development projects within the framework of common interests," he said.

Echoing Sallam, Mohamed Fayez Farahat, head of the Asian Studies Program at the Cairo-based Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, said China has made great achievements over the past five years, "whether domestically, regionally or internationally."

Farahat noted that one of the challenges facing China is the eradication of development gaps between different provinces and between rural and urban areas.

The CPC's focus on this issue is "a reflection of the CPC's accurate diagnosis of the challenges facing China and the CPC's constant review of its policies," he added.

He also pointed out that China has provided "a big lesson" for developing countries on awareness of reforms and the significance of balanced development.

With an eye on the international landscape, Farahat said China's voice has become louder in the world economic system, as indicated by China's role in the Group of 20 (G20) and other multilateral mechanisms.

"Through the G20 and other economic gatherings and initiatives, China, which introduces itself as a developing country, opens room for larger representation of developing states and expresses their interests inside the world economic system," said the expert.
