China-built youth center hand over to Tunisia after renovation

TUNIS, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- A China-built youth center was handed over to Tunisia after upgrading reconstruction on Friday.

Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports Majdouline Cherni and Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Bian Yanhua attended the handover ceremony of the reconstruction project of El Menzah Culture and Sports Youth center in Tunis.

They visited the new center and talked with Tunisian youth who were participating in activities there.

Yasmine Gharbi, a 14-year-old Tunisian girl has been taking rhythmic gymnastics lessons in this center. She told Xinhua that youth center became more beautiful with better environment.

"Many thanks to China for doing this for us, I love the current activity center," Yasmine said.

Covering a space of 5,200 square meters, El Menzah Culture and Sports Youth center, officially opened to public in 1990. It contains theater, swimming pool, dance hall, gymnasiums, outdoor basketball yard and etc.

"This youth center built with China's aid and support, now has become one of the major places for cultural and sports activities in the capital city," Majdouline said.

"This time during the upgrading reconstruction," he added, "China also utilizes advanced technology to revitalize various rooms, in order to provide a modern activity center for Tunisian youth."

"China and Tunisia have been enhancing cooperation on various fields such as sports and medical care, positive and real, and we also hope for the continuous growth of bilateral ties," Majdouline said.
