BiH youth with disabilities compete in the first soccer tournament

SARAJEVO, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Youth with disabilities competed in the first soccer tournament "UNIFIED- with sports we build bridges of friendship" here on Friday.

The soccer tournament brought youth with disabilities living in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) together, aiming at their socialization and inclusion.

The participants and audience witnessed the positive atmosphere during the tournament, and youth's happiness could be seen on their faces. Six teams have been preparing for months for this tournament and the gold medal was achieved by the team from the Public Institution for the Care of mentally disabled Children and Youth "Pazaric".

At the opening ceremony, Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Vesko Drljaca emphasized the overall importance of football in the world and this type of tournament which is organized for the first time here.

"This tournament gives everyone an opportunity to feel the competitive spirit, to fight for themselves, their future and aims, regardless of the problems that we all have," Drljaca said.

The tournament is one of the humanitarian events organized by Sulejman Haljevac, BiH artist, who said that children are the world's biggest fortune.

"We have shown that these children can and should live their dreams," Haljevac added.

The organizer of the tournament, the Public Institution for the Care of mentally disabled Children and Youth "Pazaric" with the support of the BiH Football Association hope that this event will become traditional. Enditem
