ANKARA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Iran will hold a trilateral meeting in Turkey's Antalya this weekend ahead of the upcoming Sochi meeting on Nov. 22, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Thursday.

"We have seen significant development in Syria within the Astana process. The cease-fire has been observed. Now we need to focus on political stability ... The foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Iran will meet in Antalya to prepare for the Sochi meeting," Cavusoglu told reporters on a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil.

According to Turkish presidential source released earlier Thursday, the three Presidents of Turkey, Russia and Iran will hold a meeting to discuss Syria issue in Russia's Black Sea resort city of Sochi on Nov. 22.

Turkey and Russia, together with Iran, are guarantor countries that brokered a cease-fire in Syria in December 2016, which led to the Astana talks, being held in parallel with UN-backed discussions in Geneva to find a political solution to the six-year conflict.
