ABUJA, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Republic of Benin in West Africa has deployed 150 army personnel to the Multinational Joint Task Force to fight terror group Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region, an official said Thursday.
Col. Mustapha Anka, a spokesman for the multinational force, told reporters in Nigeria that the troops comprised eight officers and 142 soldiers.
Anka said the contingent had already arrived at the multinational force headquarters in Farcha Camp located in Ndjamena, the capital of Chad.
Benin is the fifth country in the west and central Africa to join the multinational force, besides Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad.
