KHARTOUM, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese authorities on Wednesday managed to free a Swiss humanitarian aid worker who was abducted in Sudan's North Darfur State in October this year.

"The Swiss aid worker has been freed," Ibrahim Ahmed Hamid, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in North Darfur State, told Xinhua.

"She is in good health and will arrive in Khartoum later," he noted.

Unidentified gunmen kidnapped the Swiss humanitarian aid worker, Margaret Schenkel, from her home in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur state.

Schenkel chairs a center for undernourished children in North Darfur and has worked for more than 15 years in the state.

The center has contributed to lessening of child mortality rate in North Darfur state.

Humanitarian aid workers in Sudan's Darfur region have been subjected to repeated kidnapping incidents, but the Sudanese government has managed to free all the kidnapped aid workers without paying a ransom.
