Luxury watch store robbed in downtown Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- A luxury watch store in one of Copenhagen's most prestigious department stores was robbed on Monday.

The heist happened shortly before 12 a.m. local time in Bucherer, which specialises in watches and jewelry, at the luxurious department store ILLUM in the capital city's main commercial district.

Three robbers entered the store and smashed the glass cabinets before scooping up some Rolex watches, and then made off in an Audi which was stolen in central Copenhagen on Sunday, a security guard of ILLUM told Xinhua.

The value of the items stolen on Monday is not yet known.

Shots were fired during the robbery but nobody was injured, according to Deputy Police Inspector Brian Belling from Copenhagen Police.

Police have posted pictures from surveillance video of the robbery on Twitter which shows three young men who had not covered their faces with masks, but wearing wigs, caps, glasses and mustaches.

The area where the crime occurred is currently cordoned off and the police investigation is sill continuing. No arrests have been made.
