Pakistan army says 2 soldiers die in terrorists' firing from Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's military said on Monday that two security personnel were killed in terrorists' firing from the Afghan side of the border.

An army statement said terrorists fired from across the border on Pakistani Border post in Bajaur tribal region.

"Terrorists from (the) Afghanistan side attempted (an) attack on Pakistani posts along Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur Agency. The attempt was effectively responded killing 8-10 fleeing terrorists, while many seen running back (were) injured," the statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The statement added that four soldiers also got injured in the incident.

"Absence of the Afghan writ on the Afghan side of the border like many other areas, facilitates terrorists to undertake such attempts," the army said.

Pakistani security officials insist that the Pakistani militants, who have fled to Afghanistan as the result of military operations, operate from the Afghan border regions and launch attacks on Pakistani posts.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have nearly 2,600 kilometers border, mostly porous, and now Pakistan army fencing the border to stop the cross-border movement of the militants.

It is the fourth terrorist attack on Pakistani border posts from the Afghan side of the border in two months.

On Nov. 9, a Pakistani soldier was killed in terrorists' firing from the Afghan side of the border, according to the army. Another soldier was killed in terrorists' firing in the same area on Oct. 4.

On Sept. 23, the officer Commanding Lieutenant Arsalan Alam of a post in Khyber tribal region was killed in terrorists' firing.

The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for Monday's attack in a statement sent to the local media.
