TRIPOLI, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Libya's eastern-based interim Prime Minister Abdullah Thanni on Sunday issued orders to investigate deals signed between mayors of eastern cities and the UN-backed government in Tripoli.
Necessary measures must be taken to stop and investigate the deals made by some mayors and city council members in the eastern cities with the "the unconstitutional unity government," Thanni told a senior official of the Ministry of Local Governance.
Thanni also urged the Interior Ministry to "arrest those proven to contact with illegal parties."
In another development, the eastern-based army on Saturday seized control of the headquarters of the UN-backed Deputy Interior Minister Faraj Eg'em in Benghazi and issued an arrest warrant for him.
Libya remains politically divided between two administrations in the east and west, amid chaos and unrest.
