DAMASCUS, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Syria's Foreign Ministry on Sunday accused the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition of hindering the Syrian army's operations against the Islamic State (IS).

In a statement, the ministry said the U.S.-led coalition is "feverishly" trying to hinder the victories of the Syrian army over IS, saying such attempts pose a risk on the "real efforts" to fight this terror-designated group.

"The coalition's persistence in hindering the victories of the Syrian army and its allies in the fight against IS proves the suspicious role of the coalition and its danger on the real efforts to fight terrorism," the ministry said.

It said that the U.S. coalition is doing so by its warplanes, agents on the ground and through the "deals it strikes with the IS."

The ministry said the IS militants are waging attacks on the Syrian army positions from areas controlled by the coalition's allies on the ground, meaning the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and other U.S.-backed forces.

It also renewed its demand for the UN to help in stopping the "crimes" and "massacres" of the coalition.

This comes as the Syrian army lost the key city of al-Bukamal to IS again after capturing it last week.

The IS unleashed a counter-offensive and succeeded to retake the city, which was the last IS stronghold in Syria near the Iraqi border, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
