Bulgaria's trade with non-EU countries surges in Jan.-Sept.

SOFIA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria's exports to and imports from non-European Union (EU) countries from January to September 2017 increased by 15 percent and 25 percent year-on-year respectively, official statistics revealed on Thursday.

In the first nine months of this year, the country's exports to non-EU countries amounted to 13.04 billion Bulgarian lev (7.7 billion U.S. dollars), according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, Russia, China, Serbia, Macedonia and the United States, which accounted for 52 percent of exports to non-EU countries.

Meanwhile, Bulgarian imports from non-EU countries reached 15.55 billion lev, with the largest amounts reported for goods imported from Russia, Turkey, China and Serbia. (1 U.S. dollar = 1.68 Bulgarian levs)
