SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said Wednesday that he is against any military action against Iran and its Shiite ally Hezbollah in Lebanon.

"The region has had enough turmoil in the past seven years... I believe that any new problems related to Iran or Hezbollah should be dealt with cautiously," Sisi told a group of Egyptian and foreign reporters at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on the sidelines of the ongoing week-long World Youth Forum.

The Egyptian president urged cooling the tensions in the region, "but not at the expense of the security and stability of the Gulf."

He stressed that the security of the Gulf is part and parcel of Egypt's security.

"Gulf security is a red line for us and others should not interfere in their affairs," he said.

The tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran has hit a new high after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday accused Iran of direct military aggression against his country by supplying missiles to the Houthi militia in Yemen.

After Saudi air defenses intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile heading toward Riyadh on Saturday, the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthi militia in Yemen said Iranian support resulted in a dangerous escalation.
