MAPUTO, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Mozambican parliament on Wednesday ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

The Paris Agreement was signed at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris and adopted by consensus in 2015.

The speaker of the Mozambican parliament said that ratification was consensual among the three parties that make up the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.

Mozambique will be required to submit information on its contribution to reducing greenhouse emissions every five years.

The Paris Agreement seeks to limit a rise in temperatures to "well below" 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial times.
