Ukraine gas giant to purchase energy machinery from Chinese firms

KIEV, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's state-run gas extracting giant Ukrgazvydobuvannya said on Wednesday it had signed contracts with two private Chinese firms, Shandong Kerui Petroleum Equipment Co. and RG Petro-Machinery Group Co., on the energy machinery supplies.

Under the deals, totally worth 30 million U.S. dollars, Ukraine will purchase five drilling units with an elevating capacity of between 180 tons and 320 tons from the Chinese firms in 2018, the press service of the Ukrainian company told Xinhua by phone.

The new equipment would help the Ukrgazvydobuvannya to replace the outdated drilling units and boost the productivity of their work, the press service said.

Last year, Ukraine produced a total of 20.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, with 72.3 percent of it extracted by the Ukrgazvydobuvannya company.
