TRIPOLI, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Ambassador to Tripoli Ahmet Aydin Dogan on Tuesday said that work is continuing to open a Turkish consulate in the eastern Libya city of Benghazi.

Dogan made his remark during a meeting with Aburrahman Swehli, head of the Libyan Higher Council of the State, in the capital Tripoli, where the two officials discussed issues of mutual interest, according to the media office of the council.

"Ambassador Dogan informed Swehli of a package of new measures to facilitate granting of Turkish entry visas to Libyan citizens in Tripoli and Misurata, stressing that work is continuing to open a Turkish consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi," the office said.

"The Turkish ambassador also announced that two advanced medical centers will soon be opened in the cities of Misurata and Al-Baida, after Turkish companies finish equipping them," the office added.

Dogan also held a meeting on Monday with the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Lotfi Maghrabi in Tripoli.

Maghrabi said the meeting "discussed the kidnapping of Turkish engineers in Obari."

"Kidnapping foreign engineers working on the largest power plant in Libya harmed Libyans primarily because the plant provides services to all Libyans across the country," Maghrabi said, expressing hope to "overcome this problem."

The ambassador said that such incidents do not represent the values and principles of the Libyan people, and will not affect the relations between Libya and Turkey, pointing out that "the Turkish company will continue to perform its work and complete it on time."

Unknown gunmen a few days ago kidnapped four foreign engineers, three Turks and a German working for the Turkish ENKA Teknik company in a power plant in the southern Libyan city of Obari.
